Mesh Cutting with Semi-automatic Rotation
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a mesh cutting tool to manually draw the boundary of segmentation while assisting the user with semi-automatic rotation. Based on the current endpoint of the sketch, we predict the potential subsequent position of the boundary point considering the minima rule. After obtaining the complete cutting contour, we segment the input mesh into two separate parts with a region growing algorithm. The experiments we conducted so far convey that our approach can facilitate manual mesh cutting whilst maintaining efficiency of the segmentation. Further improvements can be applied to our approach to produce more desirable and robust results.

Considerable progress has been made on automatic hexahedral mesh generation in recent years. Several automatic meshing algorithms have proven to be very reliable on certain classes of geometry. While it is always worth pursuing general algorithms viable on more general geometry, a combination of the well-established algorithms is ready to take on classes of complicated geometry. By partitioning...
متن کاملSemi-automatic Liver Segmentation From Computed Tomography (CT) Scans based on Deformable Surfaces
This paper presents a semi-automatic segmentation method to extract the liver volume from CT scans, based on discrete deformable surfaces with both a priori shape and intensity information. A shape model of the liver, represented as a triangular mesh, is built and is manually located in the region of interest, to be iteratively deformed in function of the image intensity and edges. In the defor...
متن کاملMesh scissoring with minima rule and part salience
This paper presents an intelligent scissoring operator for meshes. Unlike common approaches that segment a mesh using clustering schemes, we introduce a method that concentrates on the contours for cutting. Our approach is based on the minima rule and part salience theory from cognitive theory. The minima rule states that human perception usually divides a surface into parts along the concave d...

We present Easy Mesh Cutting, an intuitive and easy-to-use mesh cutout tool. Users can cut meaningful components from meshes by simply drawing freehand sketches on the mesh. Our system provides instant visual feedback to obtain the cutting results based on an improved region growing algorithm using a feature sensitive metric. The cutting boundary can be automatically optimized or easily edited ...
